Dr. Kathy Platoni inducted into Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame

Dr. Kathy Platoni, (Col. USA Retired), is inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2019. Then, in her own words, Kathy advocates for the victims and survivors of the Ft. Hood shooting, that the event be reclassified from a "workplace incident" to a terrorist act, so that survivors and families of the fallen can receive proper benefits.

Drs. Scurfield and Platoni literally “wrote the books” on war trauma. Their writings and those of multiple contributing experts in the field of war trauma, from both military and civilian sectors, address the specific needs of warrior communities, as well as wider issues such as battle-mind, reintegration and homecoming, survivor guilt, and military and Veteran suicides.

Platoni retired in the 2013 military drawdown, but continues to serve in the Ohio Military Reserve, a branch of the Ohio Army National Guard. With a focus on first-responders and veterans, she said she works seven days a week, 12 to 16 hours a day, serving 18 area police departments and 2 fire departments.
